About-Image-1

South West Steel Construction Ltd was incorporated by Ian Ellacott (Company Director) in 2007, after being director of 2 other Steel Frame Building companies which he started over his 27 years in the industry. His career began working for another Steel Building manufacturer selling and erecting buildings, gaining skills in sales, construction and the understanding of how a quality Steel Frame Building goes together.

Realising his talent in the industry, he decided to set up his own company, this became an extremely successful company and a market leader in the UK and probably the largest in the South West. After a period away from the industry he decided to start South West Steel Construction. It was small to begin with, but already the company was taking off and word spread in the area. The company gained a good reputation and orders flourished so expansion was needed to which a brand-new purpose-built factory on Holsworthy Industrial Estate was formed.

Starting with a small team of office staff and fabricators the company has grown to a busy team of 23 staff members!

Simon James (Managing Director) is well known locally in the area due to his background in his family business, spending 15 years gaining skills and experience in Transport Management, however, he was keen to learn The Structural Engineering of the sheds he had been delivering, so gained his qualification in CAD Design and given the opportunity in 2009 to work for South West Steel as a Steel Detailer moving up to Senior Draughtsman and more recently in 2019 purchasing shares within the company to become Managing Director to help the company grow and diversify into new markets

South West Steel Construction is now proud to provide the UK, Ireland and even the world quality Steel Frame Buildings with the best possible specification. The South West Steel team is always growing and is proud to employ many local people, supporting the community.
